THE LEAFS LEAD BY KESSEL

In a very rough game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islander Tuesday night thirteen penalties were meted out, but only one power play goal was scored. Phil Kessel got his first point by assisting James van Riemsdyk in the first period. He had 2 goals in the second period which were assisted by van Riemsdyk. These two deservedly were named 1st and 2nd stars. Roman Polak and David Clarkson got the other two Toronto goals and the game was won 5-2. There was no scoring in the third period. The Leafs looked a lot more organized and if they can keep up the full  team play throughout the season they should fare fairly  well. Jonathan Bernier made 17 saves in a Islander dominated third period.
