The Winnipeg Jets scored 4 goals in the first period of their season opener on Thursday night against the Anaheim Coyotes. With a goal by Bryan Little, 2 by Blake Wheeler … 5 second apart … and one by  Mark Stuart, the Jets were up 4-1 at the end of the first period. Mikkel Broedker got a lone goal for the Coyotes in the first and Dustin Byfuglien, back in the lineup and now playing up as a winger, got the only goal in the second. It looks as though Dustin will be staying on right wing, where he is very effective and adds a dynamic attack. Martin Hanzel scored for Anaheim and Bryan Little tallied  a final goal for the Jets in the third, and Winnipeg came away with a 6-2 win. Hopefully this is a good portent for the rest of the season. Ondrej Pavalec had a very steady performance in net for the Jets, thrusting aside 26 of 28 shots. My  …. Wish Upon A Star … is that the Jets will finally make the playoffs.
