Violence Mars The Leafs’ Opening Victory by Momma Gouche

It seems as though some hockey players will never learn that fighting detracts from the pleasure most fans get from a well played hockey encounter. The Toronto Maple Leafs played well and came out with a 4-3 victory in the opener of the 2013-14 season on Tuesday night, but twenty six penalties takes a lot out of the sportmanship and pleasure of the game. Unfortunately George Parros created his own injury in his altercation with Colton Orr and we can only hope for a speedy recovery, as he was sent to the hospital. This is the second time that Toronto, in the last month, has been involved in such an altercation. Hopefully the coaches and referees can instill in the players that these sort of incidences will eventually take a toll on the attendance that the Leafs have been enjoying for some time. Let’s get back to the finesse and not the fists.
