Two Decisive Wins In Round One by Momma Gouche

On Thursday night  the Ottawa Senators let it be known that they were ready to take on the seven other teams that will reach round two. There were 13 penalties, (senators taking six) which netted Ottawa 3 power play goals in the third period … and a conclusive win. Erik Condra and Cory Conacher each picked up 3 points. If the Toronto Maple Leafs do not win their game Friday night, Ottawa, (our Canadian Capital) will be left alone to defend “The Canadian Game” Unfortunately, whichever team had won the round would leave Canada with one less challenger for the Cup. Ottawa only finished 7th in the prelude to the playoffs, but the Senators may have just enough guts, talent and determination to give it a good run. Barring the Ottawa Senators, not making it to the top, my next chose is my Chicago Blackhawks … my lifelong heroes. And what about those Hawks? “The late night show”. Corey Crawford warded off 21 shots and Marion Hossa lead the way through the game with 2 goals and an assist. Now I almost missed the third game of the night where Sidney Crosby got a goal and an assist. in the Penns game with the New York Islanders. Sidney has been brilliant after returning from injuries that would have put most other players out of the rest of the season. The 4-0 win for the Pittsburgh Penguins was also fraught with penalties, but gave up only one powerplay goal. This series also is on the brink of ending if the Islanders do not win their next game. A rather exciting evening, but I have to admit these aging eyes missed the third period of the Chicago/Minnesota game, which was virtually over.
