Hawks Come Threw A 3-1 Deficit by Momma Gouche

Gouche and Momma Gouche went threw 3 hours of agony as the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings battled in the seventh game of round 2.on Wednesday night. There was no scoring in the 1st period, but Patrick Sharp scored for the Hawks @ 1:08 of the second. Chicago played the 1st two periods in a well organized manner and were very quick to clear their end. However, Henrik Zetterberg scored 26 seconds into the third and the Hawks seemed to loose all their confidence and momentum. Then Brent Seabrook scored and we thought the game and series were over .Whoopie … we won!.  Unfortunately the goal was disallowed. Gouche did not agree with the decision, but the game went on to go into OT. …   More anxious moments!      Fortunately for My Hawks, and for Brent Seabrook, he scored again. This time it was an undisputed goal. The Chicago Blackhawks had done what few teams had done before, and they move on to round three. Have a Great Flight Hawks!

Kings Sink The Sharks by Momma Gouche

After a scoreless first period Tuesday night, Justin Williams and Slava Voynov combined to get the two goals that ended up to be the game, as well as the series, winners. for the Los Angeles Kings. Dan Boyle got a goal for the San Jose Sharks in the third and the sharks outplayed the Kings, but Jonathon Quick was quick to ward off anything the Sharks could throw at him. Both goalies were impressive, but 2 goals went in on Antti Niemi before he settled himself into a stalwart third period. The sharks did well to come from a 3-1 deficit and force a 7th game. The outcome was virtually undecided through the third period, as the Sharks were giving their level best, but maybe time just ran out. San Jose out shot Los Angeles 26-18, but only came out with 1 goal.

The Hawks Take Flight by Momma Gouche

Even though Marian Hossa gave the Chicago Blackhawks an early lead on Monday night the Hawks didn’t exude an aura that they were in a …do or die … encounter. They stumbled through the rest of the first and the second period; allowing the Detroit Red Wings to take a 2-1 lead going into the third. The hawks quality of play suggested that this could be …. All She Wrote … for the season. Their shots on goal were not impressive for a team that had swept the field in the regular season. My Hawks were letting me down!  Somehow … the Hawks turned on the burners and scored 3 goals in the third. The Wings got one more goal in the last-minute of the game, but Chicago had them … one better … and won 4-3. Can the Hawks overcome a 3-1 deficit.  It has happened! Can the Blackhawks … Come To The For … and salvage this round?  Wednesday night will tell the tale … in Chicago.

The Hawks Prevail by Momma Gouche

The black cloud that hung over the Chicago Black Hawks ( the team that had soared through the regulation series) seems to have dissipated … for the nonce … and the Hawks sailed through game five in the style that their fans expected of them. They capitalized on two power plays and warded off  six the Detroit Red Wings had against them. Can Chicago take the next two games? It has been done!     If the Hawks play the same game strategy they played on Saturday night  … it could be possible.

Pittsburgh Pen The Senators by Momma Gouche

The Pittsburgh Penguins virtually locked up the game and the round from the drop of the puck on Friday night, The Ottawa Senators were not given too much room to maneuver when the Penguins took over the ice. James Neal pocketed 3 goals and an assist … Kris Letang  scored a goal and 2 assists …. Evgeni Malkin scored 1 goal and an assist. Sidney Crosby only had 1 assist, but his presence on the ice was known at all times. It was a total team effort and they earned the right to move on to the third round with a 6-2 win Friday and  a 4 games to1 series.

Penguins Waddle In First by Momma Gouche

After giving up two goals in the first period Wednesday, which left them one down at the end of the first, the Pittsburgh Penguins got in stride with two unanswered goals in the second, and added four more in the third and put the Senators on the brink of elimination. Jarome Iginla had 2 goals and looks in form. Sidney Crosby got a goal and an assist, Kris Letang had 4 assist, James Neal got 2 goals. The other 2 goals were scored by Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis. It was a team effort, where everybody contributed. If the team keeps up with this full team participation they should have no problem ending the round against the Ottawa Senators on the Friday…. at home. If anyone thinks this series is over, here is Alfredsson’s answer, “not likely, they have too much depth.”

Bruins Play It Cool by Momma Gouche

In a boring game between the Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers the bruins were in no hurry to prove they are the masters of the second round. The first period was scoreless, but Taylor Pratt managed to tip one past Tuukka Rask early in the second. Task otherwise played a very steady game. Boston took over in the third with goals by Johnny Boychuk and Daniel Paille. With a goal and an assist Paille was voted the first star. These two teams meet again Thursday in New York, and I’m sure that the Bruins will not leave it to the last period to show their ability to end the series.
