Jets Losing Latitude by Momma Gouche

The Winnipeg Jets put in a good effort after falling behind 2-0 in the first period Saturday night in their game against the Florida Panthers. Nik Antropov scored at 5:06 of the second and again at 5:54 of the third. ( both goals assisted by Kyle Wheller) Unfotunately less than a minute later Kris Versteeg put Floida ahead again by one. Alex Burmistov tied the game at 13:45 and there was no scoring in overtime. The Panthers struck the net 3 times in the shootout, but the Jets only hit the mark twice. Winnipeg outshot Florida 44-23. The Jets are going to need more than single points to get back in the stream for the play-offs. Dustin Byfuglien, who is strong on offense as well as defense, should be returning this week; but it will take him awhile to get back in stride. The Jets have seven more road games ahead of them before they go home, so hopefully they can at least win  four of them. They take on the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night.

Jets Lagging by Momma Gouche

The Winnipeg Jets are still sitting in tenth spot … two out of a play-off position. They played a very credible game agains the Buffalo Sabres Frday night. managing 30 shots and 4 goals, to come out with the victory. Andrew Ladd, Tobias Enstrom, (seven goals in the season), Tim Stapletom and Nik Antropov scored in the 4-1 victory. However they will be on a road trip next for 8 out of nine games. It will not be sufficient for them to depend on losses to the teams in play-off positions. The will have to come up with some genius or let the genie out of the bottle.

Jets Bomb Out by Momma Gouche

After having played a solid game Monday night against the Ottawa Senators; the Winnipg Jets were left in the shadows of the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. The Devils were up 4-0 by the end of the second period; having scored 3 goals on 6 shots. The Jets took the only 4 penalties in the two periods. Tobias Enstrom’s blast from the point put the Jets on the scoreboard at 8:18 of the third and ended Martin Brodeur’s chance of his first shutout of the season. It was a very poor showing for Winnipeg …. both offensively and defensively. Hopefully they will get back on track, as their chance of a play-off spot is getting rather iffy.

Jet’s Chris Mason Gets 2nd Shutout by Momma Gouche

Jim Slater scored for the Winnipeg Jets: 49 seconds into the first period of Monday’s game against the Ottawa Senators, and Tobias Enstrom made it 2-0 at 6:48 of the second. For Slater that was his first goal in eight games. The first period was fraught with penalties, but things settled down in the second and the Jets went into the third with a 2-0 lead. Winnipeg fans were holding their  breath going into the third; as this was the infamous period, where the Jets had several times gone to pieces  … losing games they had lead from the start. Senators’ Chris Neil hit the crossbar and Bobby Butler hit the post, saving the Jets win in regulation time. Hopefully they will do as well when they take on the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night.
