Canada Breaks the Ice

For anyone who had not seen the Canada/Finland game on Monday afternoon, the headline in the Toronto Star … Costly Start For Canada … might have lead them to believe that we had lost. Admittedly the injury to Devante Smith-pelly, who cannot be replaced, is a tough blow to the team, but the superb play of Mark Stone … a hat trick … and Jonathon Huberdeau … a goal and four assists, certainly is seen as a “Star” performance. It appears to me as though the Finnish defence was intimidated by the skills and speed of the Canadian players. A lot of credit has to go to the goalie, Mark Visentin, who played a stalwart game and only let in one goal.
