Leafs’ Lackluster by Momma Gouche

The Toronto Maple Leafs went through the motions on Tuesday night allowing the Phoenix Coyotes two early goals in the first period. There was no scoring in the second period. Toronto came somewhat to life in the third period when an unlikely defenseman, Mike Komisarek, got by Mike Smith with his first goal of the season. Phil Kessel tied the score at 4:41 on a power play. OT produced no tallies and the game went to shootout. Coyotes’, Patrick O’Sullivan, was credited with the winning goal. Although Leafs’ captain. Dion Phaneuf, was confident his team would prevail. I think the Leafs were fortunate that Phil Kessel was on top of the power play that allowed the team to go into overtime and get the point. It certainly was not a stellar performance by the Leafs, or Phaneuf.
