Canadian Teams Lose 5 for 5 by Momma Gouche

The Toronto Maple Leafs took a 7-0 shellacking against the Boston Bruins, but out shot them 25-20 on Saturday night. It was Tim Thomas’s first shutout of the season. Tyler Sequin had 3 goals (including one on the pp), Milan Lucic had 2 goals and an assist and David Krejci had 1 goal and 2 assists. Toronto is slipping somewhat in the league standing. In New Jersey the Winnipeg Jets lost 3-2 to the Devils in overtime. Mark Flood got his first goal of his NHL career. The Ottawa Senators lost to the Buffalo Sabres in a 12 shot shootout. The Montreal Canadiens actually lost their game in the first period when the New York Rangers took a 3-0 lead. The Edmonton Oilers, being the last hope for a Canadian win on the night, scored 2 goals in the third period, but it wasn’t enough as the Phoenix Coyotes already had 4 goals. Toronto is still in the top winners, with 19 points in 13 games. Edmonton has 18 points for 13 games. Ottawa is struggling with 15 points in 15 games and Winnipeg has a long way to go with only 12 points in 13 games.
