Chris Mason and the Jets…by Momma Gouche

The Jets did not have a good start against The Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. Jussi Jokinen scored for the Hurricanes at 4:40 and Jeff Skinner followed with another at 6:43. Ondrej Pavelec was replaced by Chris Mason and was preceded by Alexander Burmistrov scoring a power play goal at 12:32 to shortend the lead to one. Kyle Wellwood got another power play goal with 2 seconds left in the first period to tie the game. The Hurricanes had taken four penalties in the period and the Jets capitalize on two of them. At 4:29 of the second Jim Slater put Winnipeg ahead by one and the Jets were on their way. Andrew Ladd scored at 6:07 and Evander Kane scored at 7:30. The Jets are now ahead 5-2 . Winnipeg had scored 3 goals in 3 minutes. The fans were ecstatic and standing in their seats. Tuomo Ruutu scored for Carolina at 8:8 of the third and there was a bit of a hush from the crowd. However there was no more scoring in the game and the Jets now have 5 points after seven games. Admittedly the Jets are still a long way out from the top contenders, but have given solid efforts to date. And who could say enough about the outstanding play of Chris Mason, being called in to replace a shaking Pavelec after the 6:43 mark of the first period.
