Jagr coming back to the Pens??

In hindsight it would be the perfect way for future hall of famer, Jaromir Jagr, to end his storied career. This 39 year-old, who is a former Penguins 1990 first round draft choice, enjoyed 11 standout seasons in Steeltown, which included the ultimate … two Stanley Cups. His popularity in Pittsburgh was slightly declining when, in the summer of 2001, he asked for a trade. From Pittsburgh Jagr enjoyed stops with the Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers before leaving the NHL three years ago to play overseas in the KHL. For the past few weeks Jagr has been talking about his strong desire, to once again, playing in the NHL. According to his agent, as of Tuesday night, Jagr was en route from Europe to the United States, where he was going to hold a press conference declairing his future plans. The two teams rumored to be in the Jagr hunt are the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Meanwhile Penguins GM, Ray Shero, has already offered the 1,599 point scorer a one year deal with terms not yet announced. “We feel from the information we have and after seeing, at the world championships, that he’s a guy who might be able to help us this coming season,” Shero said. “We feel he’s a guy who could help us this year, and retire as a Penguin.” Jagr, who has scored 646 goals in his NHL career, can’t sign with a team until Friday, at the earliest, when Free Agency opens up.
