Lightning Strikes Thrice…by Momma Gouche

The Boys from Boston, on home ice and a boisterous crowd behind them, woke up at 12:40 to find themselves with a deficit of three in one minute and twenty-five seconds. Sean Bergenheim snapped one in at 11:15 (his 8th goal of the series), Brett Clark tallied an unassisted, on a backhand, at 11.34 and Teddy Purcell adds another unassisted backhand at 12:40. The Tampa Bay lightning are up 3-0. The young Tyler Seguin got his first goal  of the series at 15:59 to put the Boston Bruins on the scoreboard. There were no penalties in the first period. Tim Thomas makes a marvelous save with 5 minutes left in the second and keeps the Bruins in the game. The Bruins were ineffective on their two power plays in the second; in fact Tampa Bay almost scored on one. There were no goals in the second. Boston nearly scored 2 minutes into the third, but Dwayne Roloson quickly smothered it. Marc Andre Bergeron scored a power play goal (the first in the game) at 13:37 of the third and the Bruins are back up by 3. Simon Gagnon scored into the empty net at 17:29 and Johnny Boychuk tips one in for Boston at 18:59. The Boston Bruins never recovered from the three quick goals in the first, but there is no doubt there will be a different Boston team show up for game 2.
