Datsyuk — “Another Kesler”…by Momma Gouche

Just as Kesler had commandeered his mates to victory on Monday night, Pavel Datsyuk lead his team to victory … and another kick at the cat … on Tuesday night against the awesome performance of Antti Niemi and the San Jose Sharks. Niemi had endured 45 shots and only failed on 2. The score might have been much higher had he not been as deft at warding off a multitude of shots. Detroit really put the pressure on and played like … there was no tomorrow. A loss would put them out of the series. On a break away in the second period Danny Cleary hit the goal post, which could have haunted him if Henry Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula had not scored at 10:38 and 12:32 of the third. The Red Wings were by far the better team and the Sharks’, Danny Heatley, appeared as though he was just going through the motions. Logan Couture had scored for San Jose at 3:54 of the third and the Sharks looked like they were finally in the game; until Datsyuk et al heightened the pressure and 2 goals and an empty netter by Darren Helm settled the score. So now on to game 7, on Thursday night, to decide who will meet the Vancouver Canucks in the third round.
