Detroit Still Alive…by Momma Gouche

The Detroit Red Wings came out strong Friday night in their 4th game against the San Jose Sharks. The early play was mostly in the Sharks end with Antti Niemi having to face several pile ups in front of the net. Detroit finally scored at 6:22 from Todd Bertuzzi. The Wings look determined to stay in the series and Detroit’s’ Nicklas Lidstrom scored their second goal at 11:09. The Red Wings were shooting from everywhere and leaving the Sharks flat. They were a far different team than we had seen in the previous three games.San Jose seldom got near the net as Detroit was keeping them at bay. The Red Wings’ Nicklas Lidstrom scored Detroit’s third goal on a power play at 18:01 and the Wings looked on their way. But Logan Couture retaliated with an unassisted goal at 18:16 and the lead was down to two. It was a great period with lots of action. Dan Boyle scored at 13:44 to cut the lead to one. Detroit had three power plays in the second, but were no able to score. The Red wings were outshot by 27-18 at the end of the second. Dan Heatley tallied at 1:14 of the third to tie the score at 3-3 and the Sharks were swimming back. However Detroit’s’ Darren Helm scored at 18:33 to put the Red Wings ahead with only 1:27 left in the game and that kept Detroit in the series at least  another game.
