Sharks’ Pavelski having another strong playoffs

When the weather turns warm and the NHL playoffs begin that is the time when San Jose Sharks scoring forward Joe Pavelski starts to play his best hockey. A huge reason why the Sharks made it to the Western Conference finals last spring was due to Pavelski who ended up with nine goals and 17 playoff points. This spring seems to be no different for the man they call “Little Joe” who scored a goal and registered five shots on the Detroit Red Wings goal during what was a 2-1 overtime Game 1 win of their Western Conference semi finals series. “It’s his time of the year,” Sharks coach Todd McLellan said about Pavelski who currently has four goals and five points in only seven playoff games. “Somehow the puck finds him at opportune times and he has the ability to put it into the net.” Besides for scoring what was the tying goal against the Wings Pavelski, who was a late round Sharks pick in 2003 also drew three Red Wings penalties. A year ago when the Sharks met the Wings in the Western Conference semi finals Pavelski had two goals in both the first two games. His strong work habits don’t go unnoticed by not only his coaches but teammates as well.  “He does so many little things well throughout the year and when it comes to this time of the year he gets rewarded for it,” teammate Dany Heatley said.
