Lightning’s Gagne suffers possible concussion

There is strong concern coming out of the Tampa Bay Lightning camp involving veteran forward, Simon Gagne. During the first period of their Friday night Game 1 Eastern Conference semi finals play-off match, against the Washington Capitals, Gagne, who has a history of concussion problems, fell victim to a Scott Hannan body check. Hannan, who is known for his rugged play, lifted Gagne off his skates with a hit which unfortunately resulted in Gagne violently smacking his head on the ice. Unfortunately there is speculation that Gagne, who only played 25 games for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2007/08, due to concussions, might have suffered another. If he can’t go for Game 2 on Sunday it marks a huge loss for the Bolts, as Gagne had 17 goals and 40 points in only 63 games played. Tampa, who won Game 1 by a 4-2 score, also lost veteran defenceman, Pavel Kubina, who couldn’t play the third after being shaken up by a Jason Chimera’s hit. No word has been given on whether they will be in the line up for Sunday’s game.
