Vancouver Takes Opener…by Momma Gouche

Except for the 16 stellar saves executed by Pekka Rinne (some by the wave of his glove hand) the first period of the Vancouver Canucks/Nashville Predators game, Thursday night, was a bit lackluster. Chris Higgins scored for the Canucks at 12:14 of the second, but again there wasn’t much luster. 4 penalties meted out were shared by the two teams and there were no power play goals. The play was mostly centered in Nashville territory. The Predators came out with a little more offensive play in the third and Roberto Luongo made a few breath stopping moves. But the man of the hour (3 hours) was Pekka Rinne, who obviously earned the first star. Gouche and Momma Gouche have predicted a six game series, with the Canucks championing the round.
