Braves’ Derek Lowe remorsful for DUI arrest

The past couple of days have been, to put it bluntly, a total nightmare for the Atlanta Braves who have had a starting pitcher arrested and a pitching coach, who on Friday, was put on administrative leave. Veteran, Derek Lowe, who is 2-3 on the season with a 3.21 ERA, was caught and arrested late Thursday evening for drunk driving, reckless driving and improper lane changes. Needless to say, the 37 year-old Lowe, who has pitched for the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Braves, was very sorry for what he did. “I would like to apologize to my family, teammates, fans and the Braves organization for the attention arising from this matter,” said Lowe, who has 159 career wins.  “However, I am hopeful that this incident will not be a distraction to the Braves organization while we are focused on returning to the play-offs.” Meanwhile, Lowe will make his next scheduled start at home, this coming weekend, against the St. Louis Cardinals. This scenario came while the team was deciding what to do with pitching coach, Roger McDowell, who is in hot water with the league and team for making crude homophobic remarks and gestures to fans last weekend, when the Braves were in San Francisco.
