Washington Moves On

A penalty to New York Rangers’ Bryan McCabe and a power play goal by Mike Green erupts into a 5 player scrimmage, where even an official is abused by Rangers’ Vinny Prospal. Alex Ovechkin played his usual aggressive style and, as well as his assist on Green’s first period goal, backhands one past Henrik Lundqvist at 7:04 of the second. The Capitals were up 2-0. New York was desperate to stay in the series, but a wrist shot by Alexander Semin at 16:23, of the third dimmed, their lights. Woitek Wolski put the Rangers on the score board at 19:28 of the third, but it was a little too late to matter. A more serious melee broke out at this time and the frustrated New york team took 4 of the 5 penalties meted out. I seems the Rangers were doomed from the drop of the puck, as only one of their 27 shots hit the mark.
