The Canucks Wipe Out In Fourth

The Chicago Blackhawks had three quick shot in Tuesday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks, but Luongo was ready, until Brian Bickell caught him up at 1:43 of the first. Chicago was desperate, as they either win or their Stanley Cup run would be over.Vancouver’s Sami Salo ties the score up at 4:46. The Hawks were quite impressive in the first period and Luongo was challenge several time, but came up with some great saves. I thought he was the man of the period, having made 13 saves, without much backup from his teammates. Vancouver gets rattled in the second and wind up with too many men on the ice at 3:06. Brian Campbell scored at 5:18 and Duncan Keith scored at 5:35. Chicago was up 3-1. Vancouver had only one shot at this point and were being badly out-played. David Bolland slaps one in at 14:45 of the second and Michael Frolik put one home at 18:51. The period ends with the Hawks up 5-1. Patrik Sharp gets the sixth goal for Chicago and tempers get out of hand at 4:05 and a real melee breaks out. 6 penalties are assessed (Canucks 4 and Hawks 2). Some of these were for 10 minutes. Luongo is replaced by Cory Schneider at this point. He had given up 6 goals on 28 shots and it was felt he needed the rest, as Chicago had clued in on his weaknesses. Patrik Sharp scored again at 13:21 of the third and the Canucks’ Daniel Sedin finally gets a power-play goal at 16:24.The final score ended up 7-2. David Bolland had a four point game, having just returned after a concussion. In my opinion, too much of the blame was put on Luongo for the shellacking Vancouver took, but where was the rest of the team while Chicago kept getting in position to score? Meanwhile, back to Vancouver for the fifth, and hopefully, the final of the first series.
