NHL Notes

1. LIGHTNING GET GOOD NEWS ON LECAVALIER

Tampa Bay Lightning veteran forward, Vincent Lecavalier, received some positive news on Monday when it was discovered that he had indeed escaped structural damage to his eye. Lecavalier, who on Sunday scored his 21st goal against the Chicago Blackhawks, was high sticked later in the game and received three stiches to the eye area.

2. AVALANCHE LOSE STASTNY

The rebuilding Colorado Avalanche will enter the final week of their season without veteran scorer, Paul Stastny, who has a stress fracture in his right leg. The 25 year-old, who has scored 22 goals and 57 points this season, was injured during Friday’s 4-3 shootout win against the Phoenix Coyotes.

3. BRUINS’ MARCHAND IRKS THE MAPLE LEAFS

Boston Bruins’ forward, Brad Marchand, found himself the topic of coversation earlier this month when, in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, he skated over to their bench and took a mock golf swing. Marchand, who did this with his team leading 3-2, caught the attention of Leafs defenceman, Luke Schenn, and veteran forward, Joffrey Lupul. For his part, Marchand, who is on pace for a 22 goal 43 point season, was sorry for what he did. “It was a little immature of me,” Marchand said. “I shouldn’t have done that. I got a little bit of an earful, but it won’t happen again.”
