NHL Friday night Notes

1. KABERLE RETURNS TO TORONTO

Saturday night will be a highly emotional time for veteran, Tomas Kaberle, who returns to Toronto for the first time since being traded by the Leafs back in February. Kaberle, who played more than a decade with the Leafs, will more than likely receive a standing ovation when he takes the ice as a member of the Boston Bruins. In his career with the Leafs Kaberle played in 878 games and scored 83 goals with 520 points. Since becoming a Bruin Kaberle has registered three assists in 12 games.

2. LECAVALIER ISSUED GAME MISCONDUCT

Last Thursday night Tampa Bay Lightning’, veteran forward, Vincent Lecavalier, didn’t have the home coming he was hoping for as he was given a slashing major and a game misconduct for his hard slash on Montreal Canadiens rookie P.K. Subban. The two were previously hacking each other for a few seconds while the visiting Lightning were, at the time, on the power play. Subban didn’t get off scott free as he was sentenced to a two minute slashing penalty.

3. Predators Hornqvist escapes suspension

Nashville Predators’ forward, Patric Hornqvist, is a little lighter in the pocketbook after being fined $2,500 by the NHL for his elbow shot to the head of Boston Bruins’ rookie forward, Tyler Seguin, on Thursday night. Seguin, who has 11 goals and 22 points, returned to action after getting his ear stitched up. “I went in the room and (the doctor) just said, “Nice ear lobe, it’s kind of falling off,” Seguin said. And I said, “Oh, that’s pretty cool.”
