Gaborik out indefinately with concussion

The New York Rangers play-off hopes took a major hit on Sunday afternoon as they lost their second leading scorer, Marian Gaborik, to a first period concussion, against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Gaborik, who has 17 goals and 38 points this season, didn’t play after the first period in what was a Flyers 4-2 victory at Madison Square Garden.
Rangers coach, John Tortorella, admitted that no one is sure if Gaborik suffered the concussion prior to Sunday’s game, but that they were not going to take any chances.
“I know he’s had some conversations off the ice that he wasn’t dead on,” said Tortorella. “But that’s something we’re going to have to talk to him about …and just see.”
It’s been a trying season for Gaborik who, earlier this year, missed time due to a shoulder injury and was even benched earlier this year for not scoring.
The Rangers, who are currently seeded seventh, but only six points ahead of the ninth place team, will need the potent offence of Gaborik, if they are to not only qualify .. but make some play-off noise.
