The Colorado Avalanche chances of making the post-season got that much tougher as they have lost their leading scorer,Matt Duchene, with a hand injury. The sophomore, who has 21 goals and 47, points was hurt during a 9-1 loss on Monday night against the Calgary Flames. Colorado, who have dropped their past eight games have also lost veteran, Peter Forsberg who has once again retired, only two games into his latest comeback attempt. There is no information as to when Duchene will be coming back.


All season long the Vancouver Canucks have suffered various injuries to their blue line. Veterans such as Sami Salo, Keith Ballard and Christian Ehrhoff have missed some time and now another name that can be added to the list is Andrew Alberts. This 29 year-old, who is in his first full season as a Canuck. is set to undergo wrist surgery after blocking a shot last week against the St. Louis Blues. Alberts, who has a goal and seven points in 42 games this season will miss approximately six to eight weeks.


The Columbus Blue Jackets, who are currently five points out of a play-off spot received some good news on Wednesday with the return of veteran forward Ethan Moreau. This 35 year-old, who was picked up off the waiver wire by the Blue Jackets last summer, has suffered through an injury riddled campaign which has seen him miss time due to first, a hand fracture back in October, and three months later injuring himself in Phoenix against the Coyotes. Moreau has scored one goal and five points in only 23 games with the Blue Jackets this season.
