Peter Forsberg skating with the Avalanche

What’s another NHL season without talk of another Peter Forsberg attempted comeback? Forsberg, who is now 37 years-old, was a boarderline hall of famer for 12 seasons befor various foot injuries caused him to retire right after playing only nine games for the Colorado Avalanche in 2008. This two time Stanley Cup champion, who scored 249 goals and 885 points in his career, will practice with Colorado this weekend to determine where he measures up for a possible return. Forsberg, who besides Colorado, has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators during his career. HE has talked about coming back the past few seasons, but this time he realizes that, at his age, time might be running out on a possible return. “Obviously, our organization has a great history, a great bond with Peter, so we want to help him find out where he’s at physically,” Avalanche vice president, Jean Martineau, said. According to agent, Don Baizley, Forsberg has only skated a little bit this year back home in Sweden. Even though he hasn’t played since 2008, Forsberg has never officially retired from the NHL. Last season he played for Modo of the Swedish Elite League where he scored an impressive 11 goals and 30 points in 23 games. If he does come back it would prove to be a huge boost to the Avalanche, who just recently lost scoring forward,Tomas Fleischmann, for the season.
