1. EAGER SUSPENDED BY NHL

The NHL wasted no time in handing out some disciplinary action against Atlanta Thrashers rugged forward Ben Eager who was suspended four games for sucker punching Toronto Maple Leafs’ Colby Armstrong. Eager, who is a multiple offender was given a second period match penalty during what was a 9-3 loss to the Leafs. Besides for the suspension Eager, who has three goals and 10 points on the season was fined $20,752.68. Eager, who is in his first season with the Thrashers won’t be able to come back until January 20 when the Thrashers play the Tampa Bay Lightning.

2. OSGOOD LEAVES WINGS TO SEE DOCTOR ABOUT INJURY

Veteran Detroit Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood who recently earned his 401st career win will take a leave of absence from the Detroit Red Wings in order to see a specialist about his aching groin. Osgood, who missed the month of November with the injury will be leaving the team from Vancouver on Sunday. To replace Osgood, the team is expected to call up Joey MacDonald. Detroit is currently in the middle of a five game road trip.

3. BERGERON BECOMES A LIGHTNING

Rookie Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman improved his defence core last Tuesday when he signed unrestricted free agent Marc-Andre Bergeron to a one year two way contract. This 30 year-old veteran brings an offensive flair to his game. Last season with the Montreal Canadiens he scored 13 goals and 34 points in only 60 games. Bergeron has played in 399 career NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild and the Canadiens.
