Toews Back in Blackhawks Lineup

The Chicago Blackhawks who enter play on Monday night sitting outside of a playoff spot received an unexpected lift when it was announced that their captain Jonathan Toews will be back in the line-up. Toews, who on December 28 suffered a shoulder injury against the St. Louis Blues was originally expected to miss at least two weeks. Showing true character and determination this 15 goal scorer announced himself fit and ready for Monday’s away game against the Los Angeles Kings. “Every day since the first day until today, we saw progress,” Toews said on Monday about the injury. “I feel good. You always want to come back as fast as you can, but I can honestly say I don’t feel like there is any risk coming back tonight.” Besides for his offense and strong leadership skills, Toews who is only 22 years-old will also make the Hawks a better faceoff team. Prior to the injury Toews who has played in 38 games and has 33 points ranks fifth among NHL centerman in winning faceoffs at 59.6%. With the captain injured Chicago had won only 41% of their faceoffs. “It’s huge,” forward Marian Hossa said about Toews return. “He’s one of those pieces we miss in the lineup. He’s been our leader. It’s a huge confidence boost getting a player like that back in the lineup, especially after losing three games.”
