Evgeni Malkin Boastering the Pens Offence

It’s scary to think that the Pittsburgh Penguins are now a far better team then they were when they had their impressive 12 game winning streak. What is making them so much better is the sudden scoring surge from power forward Evgeni Malkin. After coming back from a stint on the disabled list Malkin, whose been bothered by an ailing left knee, has been on a scoring tear with five goals and eight points in three games. Since missing four games Malkin seems to have an extra spring in his step along with the confidence that was missing for much of the season.”You could see that the injury was bothering him,” Penguins defenceman Kris Letang said. Playing with Sidney Crosby on Monday night against Phoenix, Malkin made a statement that he was back by scoring two goals and five points in two periods during what was a 6-1 against the Phoenix Coyotes. “I was just trying to keep up with him,” said Crosby, who extended his points streak with a goal and two points. Once forward Jordan Staal comes back the Penguins will be even that more dangerous. For now opponents will have to deal with not only Crosby who has 57 points in 34 games but also a healthy Malkin who now has 13 goals and 30 points in 29 games. “It’s close to 100 per cent because it’s not painful now,” Malkin who was the Art Ross Trophy winner two years ago said about his knee. “I’m trying to chase guys and work hard close to the boards. Yeah, it’s close to 100 per cent.”
