1. NABOKOV RELEASED

The details are still skeptical at this time but former San Jose Sharks netminder Evgeni Nabokov has been released from his SKA St. Petersburg team which plays in the Russian KHL league. Nabokov, who spent his entire 10 year NHL career with the Sharks was mediocre at best this season with a 8-8 record and a 3.02 GAA along with a .888 save percentage in 22 games. Last summer the 35 year-old inked a four year contract worth $24 million.

2. SHELLEY GETS TWO GAMES

The NHL has decided to suspend Philadelphia Flyers tough guy Jody Shelley for two games for pushing Boston Bruins defenceman Adam McQuaid from behind and into the boards. Shelley, who has 73 penalty minutes was given a five minute major and a game misconduct. McQuaid who came back for the third period said that it wasn’t a head injury and that he just had the wind knocked out of him.

3. SEMIN A LITTLE LIGHTER IN THE WALLET

Washington Capitals forward Alexander Semin became a little lighter in the wallet after being fined for his hard crosscheck to the head of Colorado Avalanche defenceman John Michael Liles on the weekend. Resulting from the play Semin who has 18 goals and 33 points this season received a five minute major and a 10-minute misconduct.
