Cammalleri believes his Montreal Canadiens Can Win the Stanley Cup

Perhaps caught up in the excitement of his Montreal Canadiens leading the Northeast Division with a stellar 18-8-2 record, Mike Cammalleri wasn’t hesitant in voicing his opinion about how they have a realistic opportunity to win the Stanley Cup. “I like our group, I think we’re getting there, and I do believe we can do it for sure,” Cammalleri who has nine goals and 19 points said. Last spring the Canadiens shocked the hockey world by making it all the way to the Eastern Conference before bowing out to the Philadelphia Flyers. Cammalleri, who is in his second year with Montreal believes that last year’s playoff experience will be key for them this coming spring. “I just think we learned a lot last year from that experience, he said. I would say the group’s a little more experienced, a little more mature this year.” Besides for experience, Cammalleri also points to the strong goaltending of Carey Price as a reason why the Canadiens can be serious contenders. Heading into training camp a big concern was goaltending as fans were in an uproar after management traded last year’s playoff hero Jaroslav Halak to the St. Louis Blues. Given the opportunity to be the number one, Price has excelled by posting a 17-7 record with a 1.92 GAA and four shutouts. “He’s been fantastic and great and everything we’ve needed him to be,” said Cammalleri, “and for us that means a non-issue as far as hearing about it from everybody else.”
