Dany Heatley returning to Ottawa

Fans in Ottawa will finally get to vent their anger towards former Senators forward Dany Heatley who two summers ago requested a trade out of Ottawa. Apparently a ‘Dany Heatley Hate Fest’ has been formed by Sens fans and the Ottawa sports talk shows have been filled with un-complimentary things about Heatley who spent four seasons in Ottawa. Taking the first verbal jab at Heatley leading up to Thursday’s game was Senators owner Eugene Melnyk. “You know what, I wouldn’t even give him the time of day. It’s not even worth a comment. He doesn’t warrant even a mention,” said Sens’ owner Eugene Melnyk, talking about his former star. Meanwhile some of the Senators are excited to see how the fans will react and what kind of signs they will have. “I want to see how he’s treated out there by the fans. I’m sure it’s going to be entertaining. I’ll be looking in warmup to see who’s got the best sign,” said forward Chris Kelly, who played with Heatley for all four of his years in Ottawa. Last weekend Heatley acknowledged that it will more than likely by a hostile atmosphere but the 29 year-old who has 12 goals and 25 points is still looking forward to coming back and catching up with some old friends. One person who would be receptive to a one on one meeting is Sens GM Bryan Murray. “Well I had a good talk with Dany after we made the deal,” Murray said. He gave me some thoughts on what happened and what was going on at the time. I don’t know that he’ll extend his hand or I will, but certainly I would talk to him if he wants.”
