LECAVALIER FRACTURES FINGER

The Tampa Bay Lightning who are off to a 8-5-2 start will be without their veteran leader Vincent Lecavalier who will be missing for three to four weeks with a fractured right hand. The 30 year-old who has scored three goals and nine points in 13 games this season was hurt in the first period against the Washington Capitals. Showing his true determination and character Lecavalier ignored the pain and discomfort in playing the second period until he was basically unable to hold his stick. No word yet on whether he will need surgery.

O’BYRNE TRADED TO THE AVALANCHE

After dressing for only three games this season defenceman Ryan O’Byrne was traded on Thursday from the Montreal Canadiens to the Colorado Avalanche. “They sounded high on me and they’re excited to have me in the lineup, hopefully (Friday) night, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity.” O’Byrne, who has scored 16 points, 181 penalty minutes in 128 games was traded for Avs forward Michael Bournival.

KARDI CALLED UP TO THE LEAFS

The Toronto Maple Leafs who are the second worse offensive club in averaging only 2.13 goals per game has called up their young forward Nazem Kadri from the Toronto Marlies along with defenceman Keith Aulie. Kadri, who was drafted seventh overall in 2009 has scored five goals and 14 points while posting an impressive +2 rating. Meanwhile Aulie has scored one goal and four points.
