1. PAVELEC WILL BE SKATING WITH THE THRASHERS
Atlanta Thrashers goaltender Ondrej Pavelec will be back in action on Tuesday when he will skate with his teammates for the first time since collapsing on the ice during the Thrashers season opening game against the Washington Capitals. At the time Pavelec who is only 23 years-old lost consciousness and was carted off the ice on a stretcher where a few days later he was diagnosed with having an apparent fainting spell. Pavelec who doesn’t remember what happened has been cleared to practice not to as of yet to play. Last year in 42 games Pavelec put together a 14-18-7 record with a 3.29 GAA.

2. OILERS DEFENCEMAN GILBERT FINED
The battle of Alberta heated up last Saturday night when Edmonton Oilers veteran defenceman Tom Gilbert got fined $2,500 by the NHL after a head shot to Flames forward Matt Stajan. Gilbert who has been the best Oilers defenceman to date was assessed an interference penalty during what was a 5-3 Flames win. Meanwhile Stajan who recently returned from a separated shoulder wasn’t badly hurt and stayed in the game.

3. PROSPAL UNDERGOES SURGERY
Veteran forward Vinny Prospal will be sidelined for an estimated six to eight weeks after undergoing knee surgery on Monday. Prior to the surgery this 35 year-old who has been injured since training camp sought out the opinion of three different doctors before undergoing the same kind of surgery that he had in December 2009.
