Carey Price in the Hot Seat Already

Without question the biggest story on this Saturday night around the NHL will occur in Ottawa where the Senators and Montreal Canadiens meet for the second half of their weekend double header. What makes this game so newsworthy is that Montreal who beat the Sens 4-2 at home on Friday will have Carey Price who is coming off a rocky start starting the game. What makes this game so newswothy is that Price who is only 23 years-old was to the anger of some Montreal fans named the team’s undisputed number one goalie last summer despite coming off an inconsistent campaign. The pressure on Price got a little tighter last Wednesday when playing in front of an impatient Montreal crowd he was booed after allowing four goals on only eight Boston shots. After seeing his back-up Alex Auld play so well in a 4-2 victory on Friday night against Ottawa there is no question that a lot of eyes will be on him tonight to see how he reacts. After his game one performance Price kept on reminding people that it’s only exhibition and not to read too much in his performance. He had a message to those in Montreal who were booing him when he said “Relax, chill out, we have lots of time.” He went on to say “We’re not winning the Stanley Cup on the first exhibition game. I don’t care what (the fans’) message was but I don’t think it’s the correct was to go about things.” Both teams will be icing an established veteran line-up as Montreal will have Mike Cammalleri, Tomas Plekanec, Travis Moen, Josh Gorges, Hall Gill and Jaroslav Spacek. Meanwhile Ottawa will be icing Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson, and Sergei Gonchar who was the team’s big free agent signing this past off-season.
