THOMAS NOW A LIGHTNING

Former 20 year NHL veteran, Steve Thomas, who finished with 421 goals and 933 points in his career, has been hired by the Tampa Bay Lightning for the player development consultant role. In this position Thomas, who played with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks and Red Wings, will be responsible for evaluating the up and coming Lightning prospects.

COMRIE SIGNS WITH PENGUINS

Looking to add some secondary scoring the Pittsburgh Penguins have signed veteran journeyman, Mike Comrie, to a one year contract worth $500,000. Comrie, who is 29, played in only 43 games with the Edmonton Oilers last year and scored only 13 goals and 21 points. Throughout his career Comrie has also played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Ottawa Senators and the New York Islanders. Comrie was just recently married to actress Hilary Duff.

HANSON RE-SIGNS WITH LEAFS

After scoring 12 goals and 31 points in 38 games in the AHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs have decided to re-sign 24 year-old forward, Christian Hanson, to a one year two way contract, worth $650,000 at the NHL level. Hanson, whose dad, Dave, was in the famed movie Slap Shot, scored two goals and nine points in 32 games at the NHL level with the Leafs.
