Three- time Stanley Cup winner Sergei Fedorov who made his mark in the NHL by scoring 483 career goals along with 1,179 total points in a 19 year career spent with the Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals has decided to go back home to the Russian league and be reunited with his younger brother. This 39 year-old who was taken by the Red Wings in the fourth round back in 1989 enjoyed his best seasons in Detroit where in 1994 he had a career season in producing 120 points and an impressive +48 rating. In the off- season Fedorov was awarded the Lester B. Pearson Award, which goes to the best player voted on by the NHLPA and the Frank J. Selke Trophy for best defensive forward. An award he would win again two years later. Fedorov who this week signed a two- year contract to play with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Continental Hockey League will be remembered for his strong skating and electrifying rushes which over his career got him selected to play in six All-Star Games. A major reason why he is returning home to play in the Continental League is to make his father’s life long wish come true of watching his two sons Sergei and Fedor play as linemates. During post- season play Fedorov built a reputation of producing as he posted 52 goals and 176 points.
