Top Thrashers Prospect Out For The Season
Atlanta Thrashers top prospect Angelo Esposito had his season come to an abrupt end on Wednesday after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Esposito who was originally a 2007 first round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins and was in the mist of a breakout season with the Montreal Juniors suffered the injury during a game against the Victoriaville Tigers and will be going under the knife next week.
Last Christmas Esposito who had 24 goals and 18 assists at the time of his injury was a key factor in helping Canada win gold at the World Junior Championships.
Weight Suffers Knee Injury
The New York Islanders suffered a major blow on Wednesday when it was diagnosed that their second leading scorer Doug Weight will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a sprained medical collateral ligament in his knee.
Weight who is in his 17th NHL season got hurt when he collided with Devils forward Brian Gionta during the Devils 4-2 win. At the time of his injury Weight had nine goals and 26 assists.
